This Week in JK

Dr. Seuss
With Dr. Seuss having a birthday this week, we figured having a Dr. Seuss author study seemed perfect. We read many of his books, as seen on the smartboard, and we voted for our favorite. What Pet Should I Get was the winner!

Here are some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books!

We can kick back and relax with a good book in the reading center.

We played Dr. Seuss letter matching games in the ABC center.

Do-a-dotters were used to help us identify teen numbers on Cat in the Hat hats.

Ee is for Egg
In science and social studies this week, we talked about dental health. We put one egg in soda and one egg in water and let them sit overnight. The eggs represented tooth enamel. Observing what happened to the egg sitting in soda, helped remind us what types of food and drink can be unhealthy for our teeth.

One egg turned brown from the soda. However, brushing the egg helped to take care of some of the stain.

Ee is for Elephant
Students choose 4 colors to use on their patchwork elephant and we carefully colored in the patches making sure no two adjacent squares had the same color.

Ee is for Elf Engine :)
You put something ordinary into the dramatic play center, and JK students can turn it into something extraordinary! One of the students named this an Elf Engine for letter Ee week!

Mystery Reader
Thank you to Groton Area's Jr. Snow Queen for coming to be our mystery reader. She just happens to be a big sister too!
